My overarching theme of research involves the study of emotion. The first research area is in academic emotions, particularly boredom. I am interested in the effects of boredom on students’ learning as well as mechanism to alleviate this deliberating emotion. My second area of research is in the field of social-emotional skills. I focus on the relationship between families’ involvement in supporting students’ social-emotional skills acquisitions. In addition, I conduct cross-cultural research on emotional wellbeing and social-emotional competencies.
